Walking has many health benefits and it does not cost a thing to do it. For your health and motivation, be determined to fit walking into your schedule even if you can't find the time to do anything else. However, first make sure you have a full physical and get permission from your doctor to engage in this activity. Also, for safety reasons, especially if you are a female, find a safe neighborhood, or a populated park to walk in where there are plenty of other people around. You can also form a walking club with your neighbors, or friends to make it fun. Make it a goal to be accountable to each other to walk at least three times a week. It's great exercise for your heart, can reduce stress, as well as lower your blood pressure, and help you lose weight if you walk consistently. We have included some of our favorite health gadgets on our website which you may find useful in your fitness endeavors. Most of all, just get out and walk. It's fun and it's free!
Next week, I'll share with you specifically why I started walking!

Disappointed,
Took company multiple days to ship item even when I paid for expedited shipping. The heart rate monitor does not work… looks like moisture inside the battery compartment when I received item. The pedometer and BMI tools are helpful and easy to use.

Simple & Effective,
This simple pedometer is really all you need. I found it the best out of three pedometers I used.
I used one of these after the battery on my fancier Omron pedometer went dead. I found the AX-120 easier to use. It stayed on my waistband, was more accurate, and has that handy leash, which protects it from falling. Believe me, you want to use that leash. It makes the difference between a working pedometer and a non-working pedometer.
Although the Omron can be calibrated to your step length, if you both run and walk in one day, that renders the “mileage” data from it useless. It also tends to fall off your waist, since it has a pinch-clip like one of those things that you use to close a bag of chips…and no leash. One fall, and it started only counting three steps for every five.
I tried one other brand that I was given for free, and it was also pretty good, and pleasantly simple, but a little too sensitive. It tended to credit me with 200-250 steps just for my commute home, sitting in my car (okay, bumpy roads, but still.)
Conclusion: unless you’re a real data junkie, this AX-120 is all you need. The price is great.

good for the price,
The pedometer works with anything but the most tight fitting clothing. It seems accurate, but more so as you get higher in the steps. For me it seems to really count quickly that first 1000 or so steps and then everything after seems to really crawl. I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks to a month and I have consistently been able to achieve 9,000-15,000 steps daily depending on whether or not I have worked out as well.
I’d purchase it again.

Our favorite pedometer,
This has been our favorite pedometer for about 6 years now. We have tried several others, but keep coming back to this one. The only negative we have encountered is that after opening it a lot, it won’t stay closed and we have to put a piece of tape over it to hold it closed.
A leash is a definite requirement for us—otherwise they fall off and get lost a great deal.
One new one we bought had a problem within the first month—all the numbers went to 9 and we couldn’t use it. The others have all been okay. We never got around to sending it back to be replaced, so we don’t know how good the company is about replacement.
