You do NOT always get what you pay for…, December 4, 2008

This review is from: Sportline 370 Traq Motion Sensor Pedometer Monitors (Sports)

I purchased this product at my local sporting goods. I figured since it was one of the most expensive pedometer models they offered, it would probably be the most accurate…WRONG. It did have some pretty cool features: counted distance in miles, in addition to steps; it has a pace “beeper” to keep you walking at a certain pace; stopwatch; 7-day tracking history.

I found it to be VERY inaccurate sometimes and VERY accurate other times. One morning I woke up and put it on as I got out of bed. I only walked about 5 steps around my bed, and the pedometer registered I was walked over 20. I even made sure to place it vertical and close to my body (per the directions).

When I walked on the treadmill, however, it was very accurate. It matched up nearly perfectly with the distace I had walked.

One day it also reset randomly. If it had a cover, this probably would not have happened. It’s frustrating when you try to get a decent reading, only to see your pedometer has bene reset.

I am going to return it today for my money back. I would NOT purchase any SportLine brand products again.

I have read wonderful reviews about Omron pedometers. They are cheaper and are considered the MOST ACCURATE pedometers ever.

This pedometer appeared to be the one I was looking for in terms of function, size, and durability. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Similar to these other reviews, after some effort, I was able to get the back off to engage the battery, but was not able to securely close the back enough to have the battery have continuous contact. As a result, the device would constantly reset and I was never able to use the device as intended. I too am returning this product and will not purchase another Sportline.

Waste of money, not accurate or durable, August 21, 2009

I purchased this for an aid in my running training. I spent a little more to get something that would be more accurate, but this definitely has not worked out to be the case. I run the same run every other day of the week. I recently heard about [...] and entered my route. What the pedometer was calling 6.95 miles was actually only 5.23. That is a big margin of error. I do have to say the pedometer was consistently inaccurate however, always giving the same distance. I entered my stride distance based on a measurement of 300 feet, so it should have been fairly accurate. For the money, you would also expect that it would be durable: also not the case. The pedometer began to malfunction completely after three uses.

Walking is Free!

By: K. Dilworth

Walking has many health benefits and it does not cost a thing to do it. For your health and motivation, be determined to fit walking into your schedule even if you can't find the time to do anything else. However, first make sure you have a full physical and get permission from your doctor to engage in this activity. Also, for safety reasons, especially if you are a female, find a safe neighborhood, or a populated park to walk in where there are plenty of other people around. You can also form a walking club with your neighbors, or friends to make it fun. Make it a goal to be accountable to each other to walk at least three times a week. It's great exercise for your heart, can reduce stress, as well as lower your blood pressure, and help you lose weight if you walk consistently. We have included some of our favorite health gadgets on our website which you may find useful in your fitness endeavors. Most of all, just get out and walk. It's fun and it's free!

Next week, I'll share with you specifically why I started walking!
