Accurate but flawed, January 15, 2007

My sole issue with this pedometer is that the clip doesn’t function well. The pedometer is constantly falling off my garments’ waistband, regardless of the thickness of material. It’s simply poorly designed. Last night the pedometer fell off while I was sitting in a movie theater — I had to go back when I noticed it was gone (luckily, before we left the theater) and search for it. When I got home, I improvised a secondary clipping system, using a metal clip and safety pin, but this is cumbersome.

I haven’t had problems with the pedometer resetting itself, even with the exposed faceplate. It takes a prolonged pressure to cause it to reset. However, for some reason each day as I reset the pedometer, it shifts modes from “miles” to “kilometers.” I have to remember to reset it *twice* to keep it in mile mode.

Having said this, I’ve found this to be one of the most accurate pedometers I’ve ever owned. (I’ve had four or five.) If Sportline would address the problems with the clip, this would be a stellar pedometer.

This one is simple but well worth the money. Shows only steps travelled and converts that to miles/km as per your preference. There isnt too much to learn to operate this pedometer and it is very low maintenance. The belt clip is sturdy and the readings are pretty reliable.

NOt much to this little gizmo – but it is accurate, it is easy to use, and I loved it! i did have problems with keeping it attached to my pants because the clip seems too small. but i took a baby safetypin and was able to clip it through the hole in the beltclip – something I couldn’t say with other peds that i have owned. all in all, a very good deal!

Walking is Free!

By: K. Dilworth

Walking has many health benefits and it does not cost a thing to do it. For your health and motivation, be determined to fit walking into your schedule even if you can't find the time to do anything else. However, first make sure you have a full physical and get permission from your doctor to engage in this activity. Also, for safety reasons, especially if you are a female, find a safe neighborhood, or a populated park to walk in where there are plenty of other people around. You can also form a walking club with your neighbors, or friends to make it fun. Make it a goal to be accountable to each other to walk at least three times a week. It's great exercise for your heart, can reduce stress, as well as lower your blood pressure, and help you lose weight if you walk consistently. We have included some of our favorite health gadgets on our website which you may find useful in your fitness endeavors. Most of all, just get out and walk. It's fun and it's free!

Next week, I'll share with you specifically why I started walking!
