This is a nice BP monitor but it is not compatible with HealthVault because Omron has not provided the needed device drivers. This is the main reason why I bought this model.

I tried using the other Omron driver for the HEM-790IT but it did not work.

This monitor is compatible with the Omron health management software but this software is not very good. On a 1900×1080 screen the software is 1/8 the size of the screen and cant be re-sized. The software was obviously designed for Windows XP. In fact it makes you install Microsoft Net Framework 1 which has Windows 7 compatibility issues. If you have a newer computer, you will be very disappointed in this software.

I can’t recommend this monitor to anybody until Omron comes up with HealthVault drivers. If they do, then it is a pretty nice monitor.

Very nice well built device. I found it very easy to use. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because Omron advertises it as being compatable with Microsoft Healthvault and it does not interface. It will not even work with Omron’s own software. If I would have known this I would not have purchased this model and went with the HEM-790IT. Omron needs to fix this issue very soon. I have tried to contact them with no response.

This monitor is NOT compatible with Microsoft Health Vault. I contacted Omron about this issue, and Omron says they do not have a driver for MHV, and do not expect to have it any time soon. After a lengthy discussion about Omron falsly advertising a product, claiming that it is compatible with MHV, Omron simply declined to provide any information about when a driver will be published. Omron is not even remotely concerned about this discrepancy. Needless to say, I filed a consumer protection complaint, then a complaint through the FCC and the FTC for misrepresentation. I’m sure those complaints will provide those agencies with sleeping materials. I give this product 2 stars, for Omron’s intentional misrepresentation.

Walking is Free!

By: K. Dilworth

Walking has many health benefits and it does not cost a thing to do it. For your health and motivation, be determined to fit walking into your schedule even if you can't find the time to do anything else. However, first make sure you have a full physical and get permission from your doctor to engage in this activity. Also, for safety reasons, especially if you are a female, find a safe neighborhood, or a populated park to walk in where there are plenty of other people around. You can also form a walking club with your neighbors, or friends to make it fun. Make it a goal to be accountable to each other to walk at least three times a week. It's great exercise for your heart, can reduce stress, as well as lower your blood pressure, and help you lose weight if you walk consistently. We have included some of our favorite health gadgets on our website which you may find useful in your fitness endeavors. Most of all, just get out and walk. It's fun and it's free!

Next week, I'll share with you specifically why I started walking!
