This pedometer fell from my waistband (indoors) and died. Lesson learned -
a better investment for a more substantial product in the future.

Misleading description, wrong manual?, February 22, 2011

I bought this pedometer because I strictly wanted a step counter that would calculate distance in kilometers. Why? Because the metric system is a beautiful thing, that’s why. The description & manual for the Oregon Scientific state these are the primary units yet when I got mine it measures stride in inches and distance in miles!

Three days later, Oregon Scientific returns an email with a link to a different manual PDF – and it shows everything in inches/miles. They act surprised that the one I got came with a manual with everything in metric yet offer no solution or explanation.

Useful as a step counter and if you want it to calculate distance in miles. Unfortunately it’s not terribly accurate. Add in the outright incorrect manual & description… you’re better off buying any other brand of pedometer.

The blue ones work better!, February 6, 2011

We bought a bunch of these pedometers for a fitness challenge at work. Half of the ones we bought were green, half were blue. For some reason the blue ones seemed more accurate — many of the green ones under-counted the steps significantly. Maybe it’s a coincidence, but, when we needed to get more, we bought all blue ones!

This is a get what you pay for thing. I paid a little and got a pedometer that I had to send back because it did not work.

Walking is Free!

By: K. Dilworth

Walking has many health benefits and it does not cost a thing to do it. For your health and motivation, be determined to fit walking into your schedule even if you can't find the time to do anything else. However, first make sure you have a full physical and get permission from your doctor to engage in this activity. Also, for safety reasons, especially if you are a female, find a safe neighborhood, or a populated park to walk in where there are plenty of other people around. You can also form a walking club with your neighbors, or friends to make it fun. Make it a goal to be accountable to each other to walk at least three times a week. It's great exercise for your heart, can reduce stress, as well as lower your blood pressure, and help you lose weight if you walk consistently. We have included some of our favorite health gadgets on our website which you may find useful in your fitness endeavors. Most of all, just get out and walk. It's fun and it's free!

Next week, I'll share with you specifically why I started walking!
